Drying technology is used universally. A lot of energy is wasted worldwide because of the lack of knowledge of the drying process. This thesis deals with a diverse range of aspects of drying in different chapters.
This thesis presents a technology exploration of industrial dryers, deals with the drying process and its influences, describes a case of mechanical dewatering and suggests optimizations for a convection band dryer.
This technology exploration is a summary of as much as possible dryers. There exist so many dryers exist that a survey is made of the large groups of dryers with their subdivisions to cover all dryers.
The case of mechanical dewatering deals with parameters for the drying process and their economical effect on the costs. Total water purification yields only when sufficient capacity is treated.
The suggestions for optimization of the convection band dryer are based on theoretical ideas. Practical realization is still to be tested to estimate its value.
