The PWTP of NBB roughly consists of aerobic and an anaerobic part. Both parts aare going to be simulated by doing an aerobic basin test, a buffer basin test and an anaerobic basin test.
From the aerobic basin test we concluded that the carbonaceous removal was quite satisfactory (44 %) , whereas the Bio P removal was unsatisfactory, partly beccause of a bad sluice regim. For the nitrogen removal we concluded that the nitrification process was allright, but denitrification did not occur because of short anoxic times.
The results of the basin buffer tests (acidification process, effect of yeats and surplus sludge on adicification) are not quite reliable due to some problems (such as no buffer possibility for the incoming wastewater, a bad measuring method for volatile fatty acids (VFAs) , lack of time...
