Lead (II) and copper (II) removal from aqeous solutions by olive pits (43 blz.)
Biosorbents are naturally occurring materials in general but by preference they are abundant in nature or are wastes of other industries. Materials used today, like ion exchange resins are especially made for the purpose of rinsing water from heavy metals and in fact the same processes take place at the surface of the biosorbensts and the resin. They are able to do th same thing and biosorbents cost almst nothing, so are worth an investigation. It is not possible to desorb all the metals adsorbed on the pits. But is is possible to rinse water with olive pits, even if they do not seem to have a big capacity, but they can reach low residual concentrations.
