This work deals with the ozonation of the quinolone antibiotic ciprofloxacin in hospital wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) effluent. An analytical method for ciprofloxacin determination was evaluated, the sorption of ciprofloxacin on effluent organic mterial was studied and the effects of pH on cirpofloxacin ozonation was investigated with focus on ciprofloxacin degradation, gaseous ozone concentration and residual antibacterial activity. Finally, a spectrophotometric method for H2O2 determination during ozone experiments was evaluated.
